Personality: G'raha Tia is, above all, an intelligent and curious person. The tattoos on his neck are Archon Marks, given only to those who not only demonstrate exceptional knowledge of their specific fields but have contributed greatly to said fields in the scholar-centric society of Sharlayan. Having earned them by the age of 24, it's clear that he's no ordinary historian. He has also had access to ancient Allagan knowledge straight from its source, the Crystal Tower, for an entire century, and put it to use building up the city of the Crystarium on the First, outfitting it with various self-sustaining and protective measures to provide its people a life that, while hard, was still relatively safe and comfortable in the face of the neverending Light. He is no stranger to long bouts of study and research, and for that his mind is incredibly sharp. At one point, while trying to access what is essentially a high-tech computer to find information regarding the reversal of tempering, he is able to memorize the means for a basis of a treatment devised by the Allagans before the processing power shorted out - he only had moments to do so, and he did it.

At the same time, G'raha has been often described by others as an eccentric. It's very clear that he is incredibly passionate about his field of study, and when the player character first meets him, he goads them into a race to obtain a key item, all while not revealing himself. He likes to make dramatic entrances by, say, jumping down from high areas, and can get very riled up when seemingly barred from his goals. Much of this could be from his childhood growing up as a sort of "odd one out" amongst his peers; being sent away for bearing the marks of heritage for an ancient civilization that a globe-spanning empire has its designs on will do that to a person. While some of this has lessened due to his lived experience as the Crystal Exarch, it's clear that he still holds onto some of those more "eccentric" traits. Even when acting as a leader of men, he kept himself shrouded in mystery and spoke, as one character describes, in "riddles and half-truths", playing into the archetype of the hooded figure who guides others from afar. While the stakes were far higher than sending an adventurer on a wild goose chase for an item, he was still convinced that subterfuge and secrecy were the best course of action to achieve his goals. And even now, as his own self with both his youth and this alternate life he'd lived blended within him, he still gets excited and flustered over things like meeting important "historical" figures in person, spending time with the player character (who he considers his personal hero and inspiration), and getting to experience actual Allagan constructs beyond the Crystal Tower, like the floating research facility of Azys La, to put his vast knowledge to use.

One would think roughly two centuries in stasis and another century alive in another world, working towards saving both worlds, would drive a person mad. For G'raha, more than anything, it has made him both patient and stubborn. He has the mental fortitude to continue persisting even when things look their worst, having pushed through both a bullet wound and rapidly advancing crystallization to assist the player character at crucial points in the story. This, however, does have drawbacks - when, for example, to even survive as long as he does, he willingly offers himself to the Crystal Tower, preserving his youth and being able to siphon its power for his use at a cost to his body (hence the rapidly advancing crystallization). At one point, he realizes that his own blood is necessary in restoring the Scions of the Seventh Dawn to their world, and he doesn't think twice about offering it up in service to the cause even as it puts a strain on his body. And in Endwalker, he willingly puts himself on the line to help others - exhausting himself to collapse by using a massive levitation spell on dozens of people to keep them from falling to their death ,and willingly sacrificing his life with no sure answer of if he could be brought back all to make sure the player character can advance, are poignant plot moments. He has powered through waking up to a world after the end, being flung through time and space to another world, and creating a bulwark against its own troubles to spare as many as possible undue suffering just for the chance to help save the player character, and thus two worlds, from meeting their end. And he's even willing to die for his plan to work! Come hell or high water, G'raha Tia is an unbreakable pillar of hope, even if it kills him.

The assumption that a century of experience as a hooded mystery man leading a city means G'raha has excellent people skills, however, is somewhat off. While it's true that he has the memories of his alternate self and can draw on that experience, in this new life, he is less used to putting them into practice. Here he is free to be as expressive and opinionated as he's always wished, working with veritable heroes as one of them, and it's fair to say he can get a little overwhelmed at times. He's always willing to help out and more than dedicated to a good cause, but he is both readjusting to the freedom of being himself and learning how to negotiate the world in this new standing of his, as G'raha the Scion and not the Crystal Exarch, or G'raha the weird nerd catboy. He is...an astonishingly terrible liar. Definitely socially awkward at times. Still, in times of great duress, he can step up and be a calm figure when all might descend into chaos. He's doing his best.

Victory Road Sample: He supposed it was only natural that here, like everywhere, there would be bookshelves he could not reach. After all the trouble G'raha Tia had taken to get to Ecruteak City - running like a man posessed with the Carbink he'd been given when he arrived under one arm and an angry Stantler or Shinx or, hells, even a Jigglypuff at one point, nipping at his heels? Not an experience he'd like to have again! - to be met with rows upon rows of tomes so cruelly placed well out of reach of his fingertips was much like a smack to the face with a wet towel.

Gods, he didn't even trust himself to climb up there without incident. Without a tail, his balance was all sorts of strange, and who knew what sort of trouble this star's librarians could put upon him should they catch him?

At least his companion seemed sympathetic. Adamas, as he'd taken to calling the Carbink, floated beside him, glancing at the books he so forlornly observed from below and tinkling softly, questioningly. G'raha managed a smile.

"A kind offer, Adamas, but I would rather you stay by me," he said, and the Carbink seemed to sigh. "Do not lament - I merely wish to keep you out of harm's way, and from exhausting yourself. Knowing me, I don't think I could stop at just one tome...and you have no arms or hands besides. We would certainly be expelled should any books come to harm on our account." He stifled a laugh as the tinkling sounded again, still hushed for the sake of others, but more insistent. "We shall merely have to take a less direct approach! Surely there are ladders we could climb that can suit our needs? The kinds with wheels and handrails. Come, I will show you."
